History of Lebanon County - Cold Spring Township
The following is reproduced from the 1875 Atlas of Lebanon County, Pennsylvania
In Cold Spring Township is a celebrated cold spring, from which the township takes its name. This township lies between the Blue or Kittatinny or 2d mountain on the South, and the fourth mountain on the North, with the third mountain in the centre. It was established by act of Legislature in 1853, from a portion of Union and East Hanover townships, and contained in 1870, 80 inhabitants. The scenery is wild and picturesque, and the vicinity of the spring is becoming quite a favorite summer resort. This township will never be valuable as an agricultural district, but doubtless in its hills and mountains, rich mineral deposits are yet to be discovered. The date of its settlement is comparatlvely recent.
